about

Our Christmassy song. About Christmas coming too early. We recorded this in September 2013 and the mini supermarket around the corner from the studio were already selling mince pies. Which kind of beat us to the punch. We start promoting this song earlier and earlier each year because irony.

lyrics

I could have sworn that christmas tree was a pumpkin yesterday
Looking down the aisle of festive goods with dismay
And just how long could a box of mince pies last anyway?
You're making me feel edgy like there's something I don't know
I'm sure you've got a lot to sell but there's still six weeks to go

I'm not a scrooge I just can't get used to Christmas in November
I'd rather make the most of Autumn, could we save it 'til December?
By the time the real thing comes around I'll be distinctly underwhelmed
Is it humbug to want to wait a little while?
You tell me...

I hear they're turning lights on up and down the land tonight
I won't disagree that it's a truly heart warming sight
But could we really not postpone it until advent's in full flight?
I know that there's a gap to fill; we don't do thanksgiving here
But it's making me feel christmassy and it's still not very near

Hey I've got this great idea
It's not a joke, trust me I'm sincere
Why not take our time, enjoy November
And leave Christmas until December

I cannot be the only one who'd like a little break
Between buying fireworks and seeing shelves of christmas cake
And surely everyone can see the depths of this mistake
If Christmas keeps on creeping forward the end result I fear
Is Christmas in October next and getting earlier each year

about

strangeday England, UK

We're strangeday, a rock band based in Kent.

We've been together since 2000 and we've had an interesting journey, with pauses for various things like university and family along the way.

Recently, though, we've been finishing 10 songs which we are releasing one at a time in 2013. We think they're the best work we've done yet and would love as many people as possible to hear them.
